June 28, 2009 11:03 PM Well, I'm not sure about stunning, but I must say that the phrase 'systematically inane' rings a certain bell, and that bell may be described as bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake. I'm sure other things could come to mind were I to mull this over, but that's what leapt immediately to the forefront. Oh, let's see, examples of b for b's sake: the healthcare system, the IRS, the Registry of Motor Vehicles, most any college administration I've ever dealt with...
June 29, 2009 5:47 AM That's exactly what I was thinking about, Kathi. It was a one-two DMV and college admin punch that made me write that one. I suspect the economy has made all manner of bureaucrats cling even more tightly to their funky rules and procedures. Job fear or something like it. It's exhausting.
