Prompt #406: Seven Resolutions
Wednesday, December 31, 2008Ah, it's that time of year when we all beat ourselves into submission over last year's failed resolutions and glow religiously at fulfilling a whole new list of reachable and unreachable goals. Resolutions are about hope, really. That's a good thing.
If you're like me, though, you're a little tired of making your own kept or unkept resolutions. So this time make them for someone else. And make them into a poem.
I dare you to whip up Seven Resolutions for O.J. Simpson, your mother-in-law, the Pope, Wolf Blitzer, that person you crush madly over but who doesn't know you exist, Britney Spears, your ex, Miss New Jersey, Barack Obama, your next-door neighbor. I know I'm just itching to write Seven Resolutions for Sarah Palin. The possibilities here are endless.
Make the list dark, make it funny, make it heart-rending - just make it into a poem and share it with us by leaving us a link to your list poem or by simply planting the whole thing in the comments. I can't wait to read them and neither can you.
I warn you, these can be addictive.
